Short-term rehab is therapy after a hospital stay, illness, or surgery — strength, walking, swallowing — so someone can go home or move to assisted living. Skilled nursing is also the long-term setting when wounds, IVs, two-person transfers, or unstable medical needs are beyond assisted living. Same buildings often do both. The floor and the goal are not the same.

Ask where people go next — home with services, assisted living, or a long-term nursing floor — and whether that next place has a wait.
